Policy 3 Give peace of mind by supporting families and the local area. (1)

(1) Creating a town where you can spend your aged comfortably

Current situation and issues

(1) Enhancement of comprehensive welfare measures for the elderly

As of the end of March 2001, Niseko Town's proportion of the elderly population aged 65 and over reached 23.8% of the total population, and one out of every 4.2 townspeople is elderly.
Niseko Health Welfare Facility "Niseko Heights" is established in the town, and it operates on 50 beds, but some elderly people are forced to wait for entry. Also, there are many elderly people who wish to enter the facility etc in the future, and the reliance on facility nursing care tends to be high. On the other hand, some elderly people do not want to enter the facility, want to spend their old age with their families at home, or continue to participate in society as much as possible.
Therefore, in the future, it is required to develop comprehensive elderly welfare countermeasures that can support lifestyle needs of various elderly people.

(2) Maintenance of nursing care environment

Needing support (needing nursing care) for the population aged 65 years and older is 7.8% in home care and 7.5% in institutional care, totaling 15.3%, but due to the reduction in household size, the increase in working women, etc For the elderly to do, the nursing care function of the family has declined markedly, and the need for social care is rising. The problem of nursing care is the biggest unsettling factor of old age life, and in order for elderly people and their families to be able to live with peace of mind, we eliminate these concerns and make home care nicely done There is a need to go.
For that reason, while making home welfare the basis, it is necessary to promote the development of nursing care service infrastructure and to pay attention to ensuring the quality improvement of nursing care services.
