4 Future population

Estimating the future population of Niseko Town based on the trend based on the census population from 1980 to 1995 and the population of the Basic Resident Register at the end of September 2000, the linear regression was 4.5583 in 2005. 5 Basic Direction of Land Use

(1) Agricultural area

Niseko Town, we have worked to preserve excellent agricultural land through agricultural promotion plans and agricultural promotion area improvement plans. However, some of the land that has undergone business transformation or abandoned farms have been chaotically marketed by private companies for development and speculative purchases. These developments and purchases not only lead to environmental destruction, but also hinder the collective use of farmland and the expansion of management scale, so we will strive to further conserve excellent farmland.

(2) Urban and commercial areas

The “Kira Kaido Road Improvement Project” (Road Road No. 66, Niseko's central city area widening project and building scenicing project), whose business has been fully promoted since 1995, was completed in 2001 and re-established commercial districts Was made. In addition, we have been improving the residential area and the living environment by rebuilding public housing based on the Master Plan for Revitalizing Public Rental Houses and selling residential land by the Niseko Town Land Development Corporation. In the future, we will promote the minimum necessary urban environment improvement and urban area formation in harmony with the natural environment.

(3) Resort area

Niseko Town, tourism development centered on ski resorts has been led by the private sector, and has become a major industry in the town. In the future, we will strive to maintain and preserve a limited natural environment and harmonize with and coexist with the rural environment.

(4) Forest area

We are obliged to maintain the rich greenery of Niseko Town in the future and pass it on to the next generation. Based on that basic policy, we will consider the conservation and effective use of forest areas.
