Admission to elementary school

Elementary school entrance date

April 1st after the day after the age of 6 years has passed will be the child's primary school entrance day. Children born on April 1 will be the same grade from the birth of April 2.
Example) The 1st grade elementary school student in FY2003 is a child born on April 1, 2012 from April 2, 2011.

School attendance notice

A school attendance notice will be sent to the family (parents) who have newly enrolled children around January. Please bring this notice to school on the day of your entrance ceremony. (Be careful not to lose it as it is an important document.)

Main events before entrance

  • Pre-school examination (October) · · In addition to the necessary health checks at the time of enrollment, intelligence and language examination will be carried out. (Notified by Board of Education)
  • One day entrance examination (February) · · I will enter the elementary school where I am going to enter. (Information from school)

When you move home after receiving school attendance notice etc.

Please contact the Board of Education if you wish to go to Hokkaido International School Niseko School in case you move home after receiving school attendance notice or entering a private elementary school in another municipality.

School attendance notice

Transfer to elementary and junior high school in Niseko town (transfer)

  • Please receive "Certificate of Student Enrollment" "Certificate of Textbook" from the school you are currently attending.
  • Please submit "Certificate of Student Enrollment" "Certificate of Textbook" to the Board of Education Committee when transferring to Niseko Town. At that time, we will give "Penetration Notice" issued by the Board of Education to parents. Please bring this notice to the school you transferred to.
  • If you plan to transfer to elementary and junior high schools in Niseko town, you can promptly respond by contacting the Board of Education in advance. (In the case of reception on the day, it may take time to issue the transfer notice, and in case of moving to a location outside the walking distance zone, it is necessary to make advance adjustment etc. about the use of the school bus.)

(Notes) For foreignersResidents' registration is required as a foreign resident in a transfer school to a municipal school of a child of a foreigner (guardian). Please do necessary procedures at the office window. (We do not go to school for foreign children who are not foreign residents, regardless of the length of stay.In addition, the international school is located in the town.)

Transfer from Niseko to another elementary and junior high school in another municipality (transferred)

  • Please inform the school you are currently attending at the school about the schedule of transfer. (Since the school contacts the Board of Education, it is unnecessary to contact the board of education from parents.)
  • Please submit "Certificate of Student Enrollment" and "Certificate of Textbook" from the school and submit it to the elementary and junior high school of the transfer destination or the municipal board of education committee of the transfer destination. (For details, please refer to the education board of the transfer destination.)
