Self-introduction
Hi! My name is Kinanti Kanya Niramaya, but everyone just calls me Kanya. I’m from Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. Jakarta is a huge city with lots of people, and it’s warm and tropical all year round.
I first became interested in Japan when I was in elementary school after watching anime on TV. My interest kept growing, and I joined a high school exchange program where I visited Japan for the first time. That experience made me want to communicate more in Japanese, so I majored in Japanese Studies at the University of Indonesia and also studied abroad at the University of Fukui. After returning to Indonesia, I realized I was interested not only in Japan but in East Asia as a whole, so I went to graduate school to study East Asian cultures.
Now I am here in Niseko as a Coordinator for International Relations! I brought many parts of Indonesian culture with me, including traditional games and clothing, and I would love to share them with everyone here. I’m really looking forward to meeting you all and spending time together. Thank you!

Where I'm From:
Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia, is located on Java, which is the world's most populous island. Jakarta itself is a huge city with about 11.34 million people living there.
Indonesia is an island country surrounded by the ocean, so there are lots of beautiful beaches. Bali is the most famous one, of course. But actually, there are also gorgeous islands with great beaches quite close to Jakarta. They’re called the Thousand Islands (Kepulauan Seribu), and you can enjoy amazing ocean views without having to travel all the way to Bali.
On weekends, people in Jakarta love going to shopping malls, and there are so many of them everywhere. You can find everything from luxury malls to super affordable ones, so there is always somewhere new to explore. There are also plenty of cute and stylish cafés, so one of my favorite things to do is to check out new cafés with my friends.
