Bonjour!

My name is Edith, and I'm from Paris, the capital of France. I studied international relations in graduate school and have experience living in Nagoya and Tokyo as an international student and intern, but I've always been interested in Hokkaido culture. I am very honored to be joining Niseko Town Hall as an International Relations Coordinator, and I look forward to actively contributing to the town's life!

I only started seriously studying Japanese and Japanese society after becoming a university student, but Japanese has been a large part of my daily life since middle school. That's because I first learned Japanese while listening to music.

I've realized that learning a language through music is a more natural way to learn than using textbooks. It not only helps you memorize words and sentences, but it also provides opportunities to connect with people. I feel most connected to Japanese culture when I discuss music with Japanese people. It's as if music is the bridge between all cultures, a common language that transcends nationality. I hope that one day, by introducing French music, I can spark even a little interest in the French language among the residents Niseko Town.

Paris has long been the world's most visited city. Yet, it is still much smaller than Tokyo or New York, a more human-centered city, and a city with a multicultural community. The characteristics of international tourism and a multicultural town are commonalities between Paris and Niseko Town, and I would like to create opportunities for us to learn from each other. As someone who majored in international relations, I find it incredibly interesting that two towns so far apart and different face the same challenges, and I would like to learn from the residents of Niseko.

I'm from the northeastern district of Paris. It's a vibrant area with plenty of fun places to go. Within a 3km radius, you can visit exhibitions at the Pompidou Museum, go to live shows in arenas and underground venues, eat international cuisine, participate in demonstrations in Place de la République, have picnics in Parc des Buttes-Chaumont, or have drinks on the banks of the Seine. That's everyday life in northeastern Paris.

Compared to other famous places, it's not a tourist spot, but I think it's a place where you can feel the real atmosphere of Paris. If you visit Paris, I hope you'll come and visit this vibrant and representative place at least once. I look forward to introducing more of France's hidden charms in the future!
