In the case of injury in a traffic accident, in principle, the perpetrator pays the treatment cost. Although you can receive treatment at the National Health Insurance Association, you will be billed from the National Health Inspector to the perpetrator at a later date, so please be sure to notify me if you use National Health Insurance.

Things to bring

  • My Number Insurance Card or National Health Insurance Eligibility Certificate
  • Personal seal (hanko)
  • Traffic accident certificate

Expensive medical expenses

If you present a certificate of limit application, payment at the counter will be limited to the following limits. You can apply for a certificate of limit application at the Insurance and Medical Care Health & Welfare Division of your city hall, so please bring your My Number insurance card or eligibility confirmation document and seal.
If you are unable to apply for a limit certificate, you will need to pay the medical expenses yourself at the counter, then apply to the National Health Insurance and if approved, you will be reimbursed as high-cost medical expenses at a later date.
