Niseko Town Child Care Support Center Activities

Niseko Town Child Care Support Center "Ohisama" childcare free space public access

Ohisama is open to children below elementary school age and their parents. It is equipped with playground equipment, picture books, and is free of charge.
We also play together, sing songs, play outside or in the pool.
If you are using the center for the first time, please register at Yoji Center, you will also need to pay for one box of tissues and a hand towel. Please bring necessities for your child, such as drinks and diapers.
The opening date and place are as follows.

Open days: Monday - Friday
* We may need to close in some circumstances. Please check the schedule.

Opening hours: 9:00 am to 12:00 am / 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm
※ at 11:30 am, for about 20 minutes, we play hand games and sing songs together.

Parenting Class

We offer classes that provide opportunities for parents to refresh and learn useful information about parenting, and enjoy fun activities together with their children.
If you would like to participate, please check the event information and schedule and apply at Ohisama.

On-site Play Class

We hold on-site play classes several times a year as a place for parents and children in each district to interact with each other.

Consultations on Parenting

We provide support for any questions or worries you may have about parenting, including consultations with local public health nurses.

About Temporary Childcare

We provide temporary childcare for children who are unable to be cared for at home due to family circumstances.

Children elligible for Temporary Childcare

Children aged from 1 year and 6 months up to school age who reside in Niseko Town and do not qualify for childcare under Article 24, Paragraph 1 of the Child Welfare Act may use this service, provided they meet the conditions listed below and within the capacity limit. For cases involving special circumstances, please feel free to consult with us.
  1. Atypical childcare
    When childcare is needed due to short-term or intermittent employment (only in cases where the work does not qualify for childcare under the Child Welfare Act), or for attending vocational training.
  2. Emergency childcare
    When childcare is needed due to a guardian’s emergency such as a disaster, accident, childbirth, attendance at a wedding or funeral, or the need to provide nursing or caregiving.
  3. Private reason
    When childcare is needed to relieve the parent or guardian’s mental or physical burden (for refreshment or rest).

Use of Temporary Childcare

  1. Limited to approximately 6 children per day.
  2. Monday through Friday. However, no service is provided on  Public Holidays, Year-end and New Year Holidays (December 31 - January 5 the following year), O-Bon Festival (August 13 - August 15), and other special circumstances.
  3. Counted by half days (3 hours 30 minutes), between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. (The available time may change depending on special circumstances.)
  4. Limited to 12 days a month.

Application for Temporary Childcare

Please submit the temporary childcare use application form to Ohisama by the 25th of the previous month. In case of sudden use, please contact us at any time. You can get an application form at Ohisama.
  • Be sure to contact Ohisama if you decide cancel your application.
  • Please note that, depending on the situation and demand, we may need to adjust your requested schedule or may not be able to accommodate your request.

Temporary Childcare Usage Fees

1,000 yen per half day.

About Holiday and Weekend Childcare (Sunday and Public Holidays)

We provide childcare on holidays for children who are unable to be cared for at home due to their parents' work or other circumstances.

Children eligible for Holiday and Weekend Childcare

Children aged 2 years or older (age is determined as of the date of use) who reside in Niseko Town and are unable to be cared for at home on holidays due to their parents' work or other circumstances. However, children who attend Yoji Centre can use the facility from the age of 1 year and 6 months.

Use of Holiday and Weekend Childcare

  1. Limited to 5 children per day.
  2. Between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm.

Application for Holiday and Weekend Childcare

Please submit the holiday and weekend childcare use application form to Yoji Centre at least 5 days before use. If you are unable to submit the application form 5 days before use due to urgent matters, please contact Ohisama.
※ If you cancel your application be sure to contact Ohisama in advance.

Holiday and Weekend Childcare Usage Fee

300 yen per hour.
