Don't you think you've seen more and more raccoons and Yezo deer in town recently?
Crops are being damaged by wild birds and beasts that continue to increase throughout the country. Niseko Town is no exception and has suffered great damage like other areas.
This month, we will inform you of the actual situation of wildlife damage in Niseko Town and introduce the activities of the Hunting Association, which is working on wildlife extermination.

Wildlife damage in Hokkaido
There is no clear definition of animals that are called harmful birds and animals, but when wild birds and animals cause damage to crops, they are harmful birds and animals.

Eighty percent of all damage to Hokkaido's agriculture and forestry industry is caused by Yezo deer, followed by crows, brown bears, foxes, and raccoons.
As for Yezo deer, due to measures such as capture activities and measures to prevent intrusion, the amount of damage has decreased year by year after peaking at 6.4 billion yen in 2011, and will decrease to about 70% of the peak in 2021. I'm here.
The amount of damage in fiscal 2021 was 5.45 billion yen, with Kushiro, Kamikawa and Okhotsk jurisdictions accounting for half of the total. Shiribeshi jurisdiction was 187 million yen, the 9th largest area among the 14 promotion bureaus.
The amount of damage caused by Yezo deer by crop in FY2021 is 1.87 billion yen, accounting for 40% of the total, followed by paddy rice, beets, potatoes, and dent corn.

Wildlife damage in Niseko Town

The amount of crop damage caused by wildlife in Niseko Town peaked at about 13 million yen in 2020, and was 9.78 million yen last year.
The damaged area has remained high after peaking at about 200 hectares in FY2019. However, the damage that is not reflected in the statistics is considered to be large, and the actual situation is not fully understood.
Last year's damage amount by wildlife in Niseko Town was the largest, followed by rabbits and raccoons.
These top three animals account for more than 90% of the damage.
Of the 9.78 million yen in damages by crop last year, soybeans suffered the most damage at 3.36 million yen, followed by sweet corn, broccoli, paddy rice, and dent corn.

Activities of the Hunting Club

What is a hunting club?
A hunting club is an organization that conducts activities such as preventing hunting accidents, improving manners, nurturing hunting leaders, and protecting and managing wild birds and beasts. Under the ``General Incorporated Association Dainippon Hunting Association'' that oversees local federations, it is organized by the ``Prefectural Hunting Association'' that conducts hunting-related businesses in prefectures, and the branch hunting association that handles window operations. increase.
Hunting clubs are made up of people who enjoy hunting and shooting, and members with a hunting license can practice shooting and take courses on how to set traps to hone their skills and, during the hunting season, hunt in accordance with the law. enjoy.
In addition, we are working on wildlife damage countermeasures in cooperation with the national government and related organizations.

Activities of the Hunting Club Niseko Section
Niseko Town had a Niseko Hunting Association about 20 years ago, and it was mainly operated by farmers, but at that time there were few harmful birds and beasts, and it was dissolved soon.
About 10 years ago, damage to crops by Ezo deer, raccoons, and crows became noticeable, and in 2014, the Hokkaido Hunting Association Kutchan Branch Niseko Section (Chairman: Taiji Hiranuma) was established. Membership has been renewed and is still active. There are currently 10 members, and about 10 other farmers with trap licenses as deemed members.
Shown on the left is the trend in the number of birds and beasts captured by the Niseko Committee of the Hunting Association. When we first started our activities, we focused on getting rid of crows, but in recent years we have been getting more and more raccoons.

The role of the Hunting Club
In recent years, the activities and expected role of the Hunting Club have been changing. As a result of the increased numbers of Yezo deer and raccoons, which have caused serious damage to agricultural crops, people no longer enjoy hunting, but often capture harmful birds and animals based on requests from governments and farmers.
In addition, for self-defense, farmers also acquired a trapping license and began to belong to hunting associations, and changes are occurring in the membership structure of hunting associations.
In order to reduce wildlife damage, it is necessary to reduce the overpopulated population to an appropriate number by capturing. Also, when brown bears, which can directly harm humans, appear near human settlements, the cooperation of the Hunting Club is indispensable.
Hunting clubs are now expected to play an active role as "protectors of life" to protect farmlands, forests and people's lives from hobby groups that enjoy hunting.

Practical extermination of harmful birds and beasts

Box traps and traps are mainly used to catch harmful birds and animals.
A box trap is a box with a door, and when the prey is touched by a trigger, the door will fall and trap the prey.
In addition, there are about 20 fishing traps set up in the town, so members of the Hunting Club go around almost every day to see if there are any animals caught.
Kukuri traps are traps in which snares made of wire are set in the path of the prey, and the legs of the prey are tied up.

interview

Kenji Tero (Self-employed) "I want to work while respecting the position of the client and each other."

Ever since I was a child, I have longed to be a hunter, and I obtained my hunting license about seven years ago. For a long time, I wanted to experience the feeling of “taking life” by judging and eating it myself. You can't see how the meat sold at the supermarket is processed with your own eyes, but if you kill and cut it yourself, you can change the taste with your own skills. I've always wanted to experience it, including the process.
Until now, the activities of the Hunting Club have been appreciated by farmers who are troubled by harmful birds and animals, but also criticized from the viewpoint of animal welfare. It is not about whether hunting is good or bad.
Many people mistakenly think that they charge for bird and beast extermination, but extermination does not cost money. If you have any problems with crow's nests, please feel free to contact us.
On the other hand, it is not always possible to eliminate animal damage. We want to reduce the damage to crops as much as possible, so we are in a position to help with extermination activities. I would like to work while respecting each other's position with the client.

Mr. Nishihara (office worker) "I will do my best to reduce the damage caused by wildlife."

Every time I heard about crop damage caused by harmful birds and animals on the news, I wanted to do something about it. However, I was worried because I didn't know how I could contribute to reducing damage to crops.
I heard that Mr. Tero, who I had been acquainted with for a long time, was engaged in exterminating harmful birds and beasts, so I went with him. At first, I thought I couldn't do such a cruel thing as a stop sting, and that I couldn't get rid of it myself. I obtained a hunting license in the hope that I could contribute to the extermination of harmful birds and beasts.
I've been active in the Hunting Club for about three years, and I'm very happy when farmers are happy when they catch a deer or a raccoon. When a farmer says, "I'm begging you," I think I'll do my best.
Many people think that it costs money to ask for extermination, but it does not cost money. However, it cannot be 100% eradicated. We are doing it with the thought that we can reduce wildlife damage even a little. I hope you understand that.

Akira Niwa (Agriculture) “Balance is important for coexistence with wild animals”

I longed for the act of catching prey by myself, judging it myself and eating it. When I started farming, I heard from senior farmers that crops were damaged by animals, so I thought that a hunting license would be useful for agriculture, so I got a license and joined the Hunting Club.
Green season is actively exterminating raccoons. I have a lot of box traps in my field, and if a raccoon is caught in another farmer's field, I go to get rid of it. In winter, I wear snowshoes and walk in the woods, and do maki-gardening with the help of my seniors. They are divided into seko, who chase prey from the base of the mountain to the ridge, and machiko, who wait for prey at each post, and kill the sika deer. I have killed about 6 sika deer so far. The taste of sika deer that you have killed by yourself and eaten by yourself is exceptional. When I go hunting with seniors, they kindly teach me and it's a lot of fun.
If you are suffering from raccoon damage, it is not difficult to get a box trap license, so I think you should get a license. If you find it painful to deal with it after that, just contact us and we'll take care of it. Requesters do not pay.

Kazuhiro Igari (Agriculture) “If you have any problems with wildlife damage, please feel free to contact us.”

I got my hunting license about 4 years ago. At that time, raccoon damage to farming was increasing, and the town hall offered assistance in obtaining a box trap license. About two years before that, sika deer began appearing in my neighborhood, and I began to hear from farmers around me that they were having trouble with their crops being damaged by sika deer. Therefore, I thought that if I was going to get a license, I should also get a gun license, so I got a hunting license and joined the hunting club.
However, I'm really busy with work and haven't been able to help much. Last year, too, we set traps in the fields of two farms whose crops were damaged by sika deer.
Nonetheless, if you are having trouble with crows or raccoons, feel free to consult with the Hunting Club. It doesn't cost money to remove it.

I asked the staff!
Mr. Kengo Inamori and Mr. Hiromi Nakagawa (Agricultural Administration Section Livestock Section)

The town entrusts the "Niseko Town Wildlife Damage Countermeasures Team", which is mainly composed of hunting friends, to exterminate harmful birds and beasts in order to reduce damage to crops. When participating members exterminate, a reward is paid from this deposit, but the number of exterminations is larger, and the actual situation is not enough.
The implementation team is doing their best to reduce the damage to crops as much as possible, but it is not easy to reduce the damage.
Prevention is important to reduce wildlife damage to crops. Electric fences, ultrasonic waves, and animal traps are required to prevent them first, and to adjust the number of individuals that have increased excessively to an appropriate level.

Internship experience written by Niseko high school students

Internship experience

[Note linked project] Please see the official town note!

At Niseko High School, every year from June to July, internships are held at workplaces that interest them according to their career goals.
This year, 22 third-year students experienced internships at tourist facilities and restaurants for about a week.
Two interns who came to Niseko Town Hall will interview and report on the situation (both text and photos are by two high school students).

We interviewed third-year student Soichiro Anzai, who is an intern at Niseko Sanroku Parlor, which is particular about everything from the bread dough to the types of vegetables.
Mr. Anzai has always loved sandwiches and wanted to learn how to make his favorites, so he chose Niseko Sanroku Parlor, which makes sandwiches.
After experiencing various jobs such as cashiering, washing dishes, and making drinks, she said that she was most nervous when serving the finished dishes to the customers.

A high school student who does what he loves

Everyone is honest and fun!

We interviewed third-year student Yuku Otomo, who is doing an internship at Kindergarten.
Mr. Otomo had a lot of experience interacting with people at his part-time job and school life, but he didn't have many opportunities to interact with his children.
Therefore, I decided to take on a new challenge, and chose Kindergarten this time.
The children at Kindergarten are very obedient, and they tell me a lot about what happened that day, and they seem to have a lot of fun every day. Otomo was also very popular with the children.

Niseko's famous ryokan, "Ikoi no Yuyado Iroha". We interviewed 2nd-year students Kigenza Genki Chimura, Sakura Nakajima, and 3rd-year student Takuya Nishigata.
It seems that the three of them chose the hotel based on information from acquaintances and reviews on word-of-mouth sites when doing internships at the hotel.
When I asked about the spirit of hospitality, or "hospitality," everyone said that they value smiles and refreshing greetings, and strive to provide customer service that satisfies customers.

Freshness is important

We interviewed Ms. Nene Saito, a 3rd year intern at Niseko Junior High School.
Ms. Saito aims to work in the nursing field in the future, and is also interested in becoming a school nurse. He said he chose Niseko Junior High School because he wanted to learn about the work of a school nurse.
“Many junior high school students are adolescents, so I realized that it is important to respect others and listen to them empathetically without denying or imposing pressure on them. It's really amazing," he said with admiration in his heart.

Niseko junior high school health room teacher is amazing!

Finding a job that suits you is important!

We interviewed third-year student Hiroshi Sunaga, who is an intern at Takahashi Ranch Milk Kobo, a famous place in Niseko Town.
Mr. Sunaga wants to work in the field of confectionery manufacturing in the future, so he chose Takahashi Ranch.
However, when he tried working in the confectionery industry, he was busier and more difficult than he thought.
“We are selling strawberry rolls for a limited time. Please try them!”

I interviewed Ms. Anne Takahashi, who is an intern at the Niseko Town library "Learning Exchange Center Asobukku".
Mr. Takahashi also experienced an internship at Media Magic in Sapporo.
At Asobuku, I found it surprisingly difficult to return the returned books to the bookshelves based on the numbers and author names written on the books, but there were many tasks that I could concentrate on by myself, so I found a way that suited me.
I felt there. He often had conversations with people at work and users, and he thought that greetings and interacting with people were important.

The discovery was in an unexpected place

lots of first time
I was interested in the Agricultural Administration Division, and this time I had an internship at Niseko Town Office for 6 days, but it was full of first-time experiences.
I thought I was mainly doing desk work, but most of the time I went out with the staff in charge. During that time, I was able to learn about the town's efforts toward the environment and its feelings toward the townspeople.
It was a lot of fun to write an article for the public relations as an internship and to go to the interview. Since I was interviewing a classmate during an internship, it was refreshing to see my classmates in a different way from their usual school.
I realized that the work of the government office that we knew was only a part, and there were many things we didn't know. It was a great experience to be able to see the cool faces of everyone working every day to make the town better.
(Niseko High School 3rd year Rena Kobayashi)

6 days where I learned a lot
I was interested in Arishima Takeo Memorial Museum, so I chose the town hall as my internship destination. After actually experiencing it, I found that there were more jobs outside than I had expected at the town hall, and I was able to learn about the atmosphere and work content of each department, and there were many things that were interesting to me.
During the last two days, I interviewed students in order to create PR articles. I was able to see a side of everyone that I usually don't get to see at school.
In the interview, it was more difficult than I thought to get information from the other person, and I learned that it is important to think carefully about what kind of questions to ask the other person, and I learned a lot.
This time, I was able to discover my weaknesses and strengths and feel my growth. I will continue to do my best to make the most of this experience.
(Niseko High School 3rd year Mizuki Tanaka)

When I was asked to be a reporter for this townspeople at the reception desk of the town hall, two women who were there told me, "The accordion performance I listened to at the gathering of gratitude made me cry." .
Mr. Tatsuo Kubo, who played the accordion, repurposed the former Fujiyama Elementary School in Niseko (currently operated by Bistro French & Lodge Chez Doudou) as a Niseko Kogen Youth Hostel, and has been staying there for nearly 30 years.
It must have been a famous inn among travelers. His wife's home-cooked meals had the taste of a bag, and he often made elaborate sweets.
I got acquainted with Tomoko, who is his wife, through our shared hobby of loving picture books, and decided to read together.
It was this connection that inspired Tatsuo, the owner of the group, to play the accordion at the Asobukku 20th Anniversary Appreciation Gathering.
Mr. Seiji Osaka, who was the mayor of Asobuk at the time, and Mr. Kenzo Doi, who was the first director of the secretariat, conveyed their thoughts. became a moving trend.
Among the repertoire, there were many old songs such as the tango "Lakumparsita", the Russian folk song "Katyusha", and Hibari Misora's "Midaregami", but the younger generation, including the two women mentioned above, were also impressed. You must have remembered
In the middle of the performance, I painfully understood Mr. Kubo's feelings when he explained that his fingers could not move as expected due to his age.
What is necessary for Asobuk to continue to be a place loved by users?
As someone who has continued to question this question, what I feel is not perfection as a library, but the creation of a warm place that welcomes everyone and the development of human resources.
During the thanksgiving gathering, the deputy mayor and the deputy chairman of Asobukku read a picture book together and excited the audience.
This attempt was made possible because the two are childhood friends, and I hope many people will listen to the relaxed and warm voice of the deputy mayor who kindly accepted the offer. I think.
Warmth connects people. Twenty years have taught me that.

Asobukku recommended books

"Ghost of Railroad Crossing" by Kazuaki Takano (Bungeishunju)

Like the author who studied under a film director (the late Kihachi Okamoto), this work is a work that brings to mind images.
The age setting is also exquisite and "1994". This was before Windows 95, when personal computers and the Internet became popular, and it was difficult to forge ghost photographs using digital technology.
Although it is a horror, it was a book that can be enjoyed as a ghost story.
More than anything else, I later found out that the cover and cover photo of this book were taken by the author himself, and I was amazed.
By the way, the 169th Akutagawa Prize, which was announced on July 19th, will go to Sao Ichikawa for "Hunchback", and the Naoki Prize will go to Ryosuke Kakine for "Gokuraku Seii Taishogun" and Sayako Nagai for "Kobikicho". Revenge” was selected.
The award-winning works of each award, as well as the award-winning and nominated works, and other works of each author are also available, so please take this opportunity to see them. It is on display in a special corner.

It's been half a year since I moved from Yokohama, and I've gotten used to life in Hokkaido.
Currently, I'm starting to practice driving a car, which I didn't feel the need to drive in the Kanto region.

Niseko High School Rice Planting and Niseko Elementary School Rice Planting
On June 1st (Thursday), Niseko High School and on June 13th (Tuesday), 5th graders from Niseko Elementary School jointly participated in a rice planting experience.
We were blessed with good weather on both days, and it was very impressive to see the students enjoying themselves while getting covered in mud.
We also plan to harvest rice in the fall. Through a series of experiences, I felt that it would be a good opportunity to increase the number of students interested in food and agriculture. (Ago Miyamae)

3rd year Junwon Jang (from Seoul, South Korea)

Thank you very much to all the sales party!
The Niseko View Plaza direct sales event made me realize the deliciousness of vegetables that I didn't even notice in my home country.
Mysterious days where I interact with farmers every day and broaden my knowledge of vegetables!
We can understand the importance of agriculture, which is the key industry of Niseko Town, and actively disseminate information about it.
The store manager, staff, and farmers treat us warmly like family, and that relationship of trust makes it easy to work.
My assignment is a special place that gives me opportunities to discover and grow new vegetables, and at the same time, I can feel that I am contributing to the local community.

Niseko Nature
Niseko is now in its third year of green season, with the spring foliage completely over.
On my last day off, I went to Mt. Iwaonupuri and enjoyed the happiness of being surrounded by beautiful nature.
I'm from Miyazaki and have lived in the Kanto region for a long time, so Niseko is my first place to live in the snow country.
Seeing the beauty of the snow and the difficulty of snow removal, I obtained a large special license at the end of last year.
When the snow thawed this year, I helped spread and melt the snow in the snow storage area.
It is quite difficult to operate as expected, but
I improved little by little each time, and it was a great experience to drive a valuable excavator even though I had just obtained my license.
I plan to practice more this season to improve. thank you!

Niseko Classic
I participated in the Niseko Classic, a bicycle race that was hotly contested again this year, as a staff member such as course guidance.
The Niseko Classic, which many people participate in every year, was a very fun event as it was a serious road race while enjoying the nature-rich Niseko area.
This Niseko Classic where participants gather from all over the country, I discovered another good point of Niseko! (Ken Suzuki)

Pool play has started

Kindergarten
This summer, too, we had the help of the Otasukeman no Kai (we work together with parents to create an environment where children can play), and we set up large and medium-sized pools.
Middle-aged and older children also use the town-run pool to incorporate dynamic play using the whole body. Children under the age of 1 can touch the water in the basin, and even on hot days, a tarp tent creates a shade of trees so that they can relax.
We prepare the environment for playing in the water according to their age and enjoy playing in the summer.

We all had a good time playing

Sun
A “Parent-Child Play Class” was held at the Soga Revitalization Center for parents and children in the Soga, Higashiyama, and Niseko districts.
Three sets of parents participated. After playing with toys and introducing ourselves, the town's dietitian prepared a nutritious snack for us to eat together.
It was very well received, with comments such as "I'm glad I was able to meet children of a similar age who live in my neighborhood" and "I'm glad I was able to eat delicious snacks that were easy to make."

“Ohisama” is a place where parents and children can play casually, and where friends can talk about their worries. (Inside Kindergarten)

《Recommendation of “muscle storage”》
“Storage” is the accumulation of muscles in the body. It has the same pronunciation as savings to save money, but the difference is that ``improvement increases when you use it, and decreases when you don't use it''.

Increased muscle strength in older people
Muscle mass generally decreases with age, but even elderly people can build muscle through exercise.
It may be difficult to build muscle like an athlete, but it is known that even elderly people around the age of 90 can increase their muscle mass and strength by doing muscle training.
In order for the elderly to build muscle efficiently, it is a combination of muscle training to build strength and aerobic exercise to make it easier to build muscle.
In addition, you can live a long and healthy life by exercising without overdoing it according to your physical condition.

Advantages of “muscle storage”
1. Fall prevention
2. Prevention and improvement of lifestyle-related diseases
3, prevention of back pain and joint pain
4, prevention of osteoporosis
5. Mental health maintenance

We perform preventive care classroom "storing muscle classroom"!
From September, once every two weeks, we will hold a "muscle training class" for the purpose of preventing nursing care. It's hard to continue exercising alone, but we are working to make it fun for everyone.
Please feel free to invite your spouse or neighbors to join us.

"Long-term Care Prevention Project Volunteer"
Recruiting!
We are looking for volunteers who can cooperate with preventive care projects.
Last year, seven volunteers helped run the muscle training class.

Attorney Katahira will solve your worries!

●This month's theme "Monster"
Recently, I saw a movie called "Monster". It was a movie in which the truth about children who experienced bullying was not recognized by the adults around them, or that children lost their place due to misunderstandings due to distorted perceptions of adults.
By the way, there is a law called the Act on Promotion of Bullying Prevention Measures.
This law stipulates that if a school becomes aware of bullying, it will investigate the facts and take measures to prevent recurrence. sometimes.
However, even if bullying is recognized, difficult issues such as conflicts between parents over the facts and prevention of recurrence, limitations of school response, and ensuring children's autonomy in school life arise at the same time. Prompt bullying redress is often not provided.
Partly because of the Bullying Prevention Measures Promotion Act, social interest in bullying has increased, and 2022, the number of recognized cases of bullying in elementary, junior high, high school, and special support schools was 615,351, and 1,000 students. The number of recognitions per person is 47.7 and is increasing year by year.
The implementation of the Act on Promotion of Measures to Prevent Bullying is important.
I thought about that when I saw the movie, and my heart tightened.

* Owner's responsibility

I would like appropriate management of unoccupied house
Empty houses such as houses that no longer live in or warehouses that are no longer used will deteriorate year by year if they are not properly managed by regular snow removal and repairs.
Eventually, vacant houses (abandoned houses) that have been damaged to the point where they cannot be reused will hinder the landscape of the town and may cause harm to the surroundings by collapsing.

◎ What is the responsibility of the owner of an empty house?
A vacant house is personal property and must be properly managed by the owner.
As a general rule, the town does not manage vacant houses.
If the accumulated snow falls or a part of the building collapses, causing damage to nearby houses or passers-by, the owner of the vacant house may be held responsible for management such as compensation for damages.
If you own an unoccupied house, please manage it appropriately so that it does not become a nuisance to those around you.

◎ What if you leave an abandoned house?
In the town, the "Niseko Town Landscape Ordinance" was enforced in 2004 (FY 2004), and proper maintenance and management is required so as not to hinder the landscape due to "poorly managed land" such as abandoned houses. We are obliged to strive to
In addition, in 2014, the government enacted the "Special Measures Law Concerning Promotion of Measures for Vacant Houses" in order to deal with the problem of vacant houses and abandoned houses nationwide.
By this law, we decide to promote measures for empty houses and abandoned houses comprehensively and systematically.
Based on these ordinances and laws, the town conducts on-site surveys of abandoned houses, provides guidance to owners, and, in some cases, issues recommendations and orders.
If the property is still not properly managed, it is possible to remove the abandoned building based on the Administrative Substitute Execution Law and collect the cost from the land owner.

◎ Countermeasures against vacant houses in cooperation with the Niseko Real Estate Industry Association
The town has signed an agreement with the "Niseko Real Estate Industry Association" to help manage villas and vacant houses, as well as short-term rental of villas and vacant houses while the owners are not using them. .

◎We will help you manage villas and vacant houses.
The town serves as the reception desk for consultations, and businesses belonging to the real estate industry association are in charge of the actual management. In addition to checking the exterior of the building and the site through monthly patrols, services such as snow removal are also provided in winter.
So far, in addition to patroling villas and vacant houses, we have helped with mowing and snow removal. Please contact us if you have any problems with your villa or empty house.

◎Why don't you rent out a villa or an empty house for a short period of time?
A business in the town that needs housing only for the period when the owner does not use the villa or vacant house by the town becoming a registration and consultation desk for properties and users, and businesses belonging to the real estate industry association performing the actual leasing business. rent to someone.
Reducing the unused period of the building also leads to reducing the deterioration of the building. If you are interested in utilizing your villa or empty house, please contact us.

◎Please let me know if you have any vacant house information.
In 2022, the town will formulate a plan to deal with vacant houses, etc., and is working to promote measures against vacant houses.
Until now, we have conducted surveys based on the status of water supply closures, etc., but in order to unearth more vacant houses, we are looking for information on vacant houses that residents have.
The information obtained from the survey will be compiled into a ledger, and after conducting a survey of the owner's intentions, it will be used for measures such as vacant houses in the future.

CS channel vol.37 Building a school with the community
Niseko-style community school

Niseko Town Community School 2023 New system started!
In Niseko Town, since 2017, we have introduced a community school with the aim of promoting the creation of a school with the community and nurturing ``children who live strongly with pride in Niseko''.
The plenary session, the first of this year's school, emphasized the fact that children develop diverse abilities through interaction with the three parties of school, home, and community, and that the issues surrounding schools are becoming more complex and serious. It was confirmed that schools, homes, and communities need to be aware of their respective roles and responsibilities and cooperate with each other.
The community school is a place where these three parties gather and discuss. 2. Supporting the operation of the school; We will work on this year's activities so that we can support children's growth outside of school.

Track!
Activities of a town development company! Vol.31

We are planning to hold a woodworking production and edamame harvesting event♪

Ladies and gentlemen, do you remember when we held the "New Moon Falling/Hagarashi Tour" in late February last year? On the site of Niseko Mirai, which was originally farmland, there is a Sakhalin fir planted several decades ago with the intention of using it as firewood. It was an event to actually see and learn the process of making.
About a year and a half after felling the Sakhalin fir, the log has been dried for a long time, and the day has finally come when it can be used as lumber!
This time, we plan to use this leaf mustard and natural dried logs to create benches for Niseko Mirai and local people to sit outside, and to demonstrate chainsaw art (the bench in the photo is a prototype). The event is scheduled for Sunday, August 27th.
For details, please check the flyer, Niseko Town's SNS, homepage, etc.
Along with the bench building and chainsaw art demonstration, we are also planning to harvest and eat the green soybeans we sowed in June, so please look forward to it! It looks like it will be a fun-filled event!

Note

Residential fire alarms have a lifespan of 10 years! Replace your old equipment!
More than 10 years have passed since June 1, 2011, when it became mandatory for all houses to install residential fire alarms.
Residential fire alarms need to be replaced as they become old and may not detect fires due to deterioration of electronic parts or dead batteries.
The guideline for replacement is 10 years after installing a residential fire alarm. Be sure to check the year of installation with the "installation date" entered when the residential fire alarm was installed, or the "manufacturing year" printed on the main unit.
In addition, interlocking alarms are recommended when updating residential fire alarms. When an interlocking alarm detects a fire, other fire alarms installed in other locations will also sound an alarm.
In addition, please install home where fire alarm for house is not installed early.

clean station

Be careful with dogs and cats!
Don't let the dog go!
Free-ranging dogs are prohibited by Niseko Town Dog Control and Wild Dog Sweeping Ordinances.
If you let your dog run free, it may behave in unexpected ways without its owner, such as harming people and other dogs. Please keep the leash properly when walking.
Also, when you take your dog for a walk, take a plastic bag with you and be sure to take the feces home with you.
It is also a natural manner not to let your dog pee at the front door of your house.
Don't feed outdoor cats irresponsibly!
If you give food to a cat outside, it may cause the cat to stay, and it may cause trouble with the surrounding residents such as meowing and smell. If you must give food, be aware and responsible as the owner, keep it indoors, and find a new owner when the kitten is born.
When you keep a pet, follow the rules and manners, and take responsibility as a member of the family.

hello mayor
Farmland maintenance leading to the future
Agriculture is a valuable industry that nurtures our lives. Agriculture and tourism are the main industries in our town, and commerce and industry support the town.
And half a century has passed since the town started clean agriculture, encouraging people to make compost under the slogan, "Creating soil means building people."
In the past, agriculture in Honcho faced problems such as "small fields, large amounts of gravel, and poor drainage due to clay soil."
In order to solve these problems, construction work to improve the infrastructure of farmland of 1,490 ha in the town under the direct control of the government is underway. The understanding of the townspeople, including the farmers, has brought up agriculture in Honcho.
Let's protect the land of agricultural production and pass on the dream farming to the next generation!

Central warehouse group communication vol.24

Color has come out in the square!
Hello! This is Matsuda, the director.
The central district around the central warehouse group also smells of summer.
The other day, as part of the program for students on a school excursion, a program was held to paint grass rolls wrapped in plastic in one corner of the square, and two plain grass rolls were beautifully colored by high school students from Sapporo.
The painted hay rolls are scheduled to be displayed in the square until around October, so please take a look!
In addition, on June 25, the annual "Pikinini concert" centered on Rie Ohashi of Piknini was held, and many people including children in the town visited on that day.
A full-fledged song and performance echoed through the old starch factory!

Editor's Note

The coverage of this month's feature was shocking. Starting with electrical treatment of raccoon dogs, extermination of crows, stabs of Yezo deer, and so on.
In particular, the eyes of the Yezo deer, who were prepared to die, were so beautiful that they are still imprinted in my mind.
Humans cannot live without taking the lives of other living things. Until now, when I ate meat dishes, I asked myself, "How much life did I realize?"
Whether it is a crow or a Yezo deer, as long as they are living things, there is an exchange of "life" and "life."
Looking at the members of the Hunting Club who put their hands together after the final blow, I felt that the members of the Hunting Club have more respect for "life" than anyone else. (and)
