Currently, a large amount of steam is fumarolic due to a survey for geothermal power generation near Yukichichibu Onsen in Rankoshi Town.

Since 2016, Niseko Town and Rankoshi Town have been conducting geothermal resource development surveys with the aim of realizing geothermal power generation in the Niseko Mountain Range. increase.
At the excavation site, a temporary fumarolic test is being carried out in order to confirm the amount of steam that will be used for power generation, and a large amount of steam is currently being emitted. .

The test is scheduled to be held for the time being (until around August 20).
Please be aware that there have been reports of people mistaking the erupting steam for a fire.
