Switching to automatic water meter reading devices (smart meters)

Our town will be switching to automatic water meter reading devices (smart meters).
Until now, meter readers have visited your homes once every two months to read your meters, but from now on, meters will be read over the internet, which will allow us to detect water leaks at your homes early.
With the introduction of automatic water meter reading equipment (smart meters), the distribution of meter reading slips, which meter readers have been posting to your homes, will end in March 2026.
Going forward, the method for checking the previous month's usage will be different for customers who pay by direct debit and customers who pay by invoice.
Customers who pay by direct debit will be able to check their payment online. Information on how to register and use the service will be sent by mail in early March 2026.
For customers who pay by billing slip, the layout of the billing slip will be changed from April 2026. In addition to the existing items, the usage period, water usage for the previous month, and water usage for the same month in the previous month will be displayed.
