Be careful! Beware of suspicious emails and surveys disguised as census surveys

The census will be conducted nationwide on October 1st, but there have been confirmed cases across the country of people receiving suspicious phone calls, emails, and visits claiming to be about the census.

*Please note that emails sent to individuals requesting responses to the census will never contain a link to the address where you should respond. This is a fraudulent email.


This could be linked to fraud or other crimes, so if you have any doubts, please do not respond.


　

　
　

The census never surveys you by phone or email.
Between September 20th and September 30th, investigators will visit each household and distribute (or post) survey documents.
The deadline for responses is October 8th.
No commemorative gifts will be given as part of the census.
To respond online, please use the QR code printed on the survey document (Internet response request form) or access the official website.
If you receive a suspicious email, please be careful not to click on any URLs or enter any personal information.
If you receive a suspicious call, hang up immediately.

Census takers carry a "census taker's card (with photo)" to identify themselves.
If someone visits without an investigator's ID, they may be impersonating an investigator.
