Transitioning to a system based on My Number Insurance Cards

Those who do not yet have a Myna Health Insurance card can continue to receive medical treatment as before with the qualification confirmation document.

System overview
The Act to partially amend the Act on the Use of Numbers to Identify Specific Individuals in Administrative Procedures, etc., which includes provisions based on online eligibility verification using My Number cards, was promulgated on June 9 2023, new traditional health insurance cards will no longer be issued, and a system has been shifted to one based on My Number cards (hereinafter referred to as "My Number health insurance cards") that have been registered as health insurance cards.
Transitional measures regarding health insurance cards
Insurance cards issued by December 1, 2024 can be used until their expiration date due to transitional measures.

Issuance of qualification certificate
From December 2, 2024, we will be issuing eligibility confirmation certificates without the need for application to those who do not have a My Number health insurance card so that they can continue to receive insured medical treatment.

Notification of qualification information
From December 2, 2024, those who have a My Number insurance card will be provided with a notice of eligibility information so that they can easily understand their insured status, etc.
Please keep the card in a safe place, as you will be able to receive treatment at medical institutions that cannot read the My Number Health Insurance Card by presenting it together with your My Number Health Insurance Card.

What you need to submit
From December 2, 2024, the various notifications for National Health Insurance and Long-Term Care Insurance for the Elderly that require a current insurance card will be changed as follows.

What to present at medical institutions, etc.
From December 2, 2024, the insurance cards and other documents required for presentation at medical institutions, etc. will be changed as follows.

Registration and cancellation of My Number card for use as health insurance card
Your My Number card can be used as an insurance card at the counter of a medical institution or pharmacy that has the equipment installed.
There are three ways to use your My Number Card as an insurance card.
1. Application via My Number Portal
2. Application via Seven Bank ATM
3. Applying at medical institutions using a face recognition card reader
