Transitioning to a system based on My Number Insurance Cards

The Act to partially amend the Act on the Use of Numbers to Identify Specific Individuals in Administrative Procedures, etc., which includes provisions based on online eligibility verification using My Number cards, was promulgated on June 9 2023, new traditional health insurance cards will no longer be issued, and a system has been shifted to one based on My Number cards (hereinafter referred to as "My Number health insurance cards") that have been registered as health insurance cards.

Insurance cards issued by December 1, 2024 can be used until their expiration date due to transitional measures.
*For Niseko Town 's National Health Insurance and Late-stage Elderly Medical Insurance, the longest period is until July 31, 2025.

From December 2, 2024, we will be issuing eligibility confirmation certificates without the need for application to those who do not have a My Number health insurance card so that they can continue to receive insured medical treatment.
*For those who have insurance cards under transitional measures (National Health Insurance/Late-stage elderly), the cards will be sent in late July 2025.

From December 2, 2024, those who have a My Number insurance card will be provided with a notice of eligibility information so that they can easily understand their insured status, etc.
Please keep the card in a safe place, as you will be able to receive treatment at medical institutions that cannot read the My Number Health Insurance Card by presenting it together with your My Number Health Insurance Card.
*For those who have insurance cards (National Health Insurance/Late-stage Elderly) under transitional measures, the cards will be sent in late July 2025.

From December 2, 2024, the various notifications for National Health Insurance and Long-Term Care Insurance for the Elderly that require a current insurance card will be changed as follows.
・Health insurance card ⇒ All of your health insurance cards, eligibility confirmation documents, and eligibility information notices under the transitional measures

From December 2, 2024, the insurance cards and other documents required for presentation at medical institutions, etc. will be changed as follows.

*The above applies only to medical institutions that can perform online eligibility verification.
*If you have an elderly beneficiary certificate, limit application certificate, etc., you may be required to present them as well.

Your My Number card can be used as an insurance card at the counter of a medical institution or pharmacy that has the equipment installed.
There are three ways to use your My Number Card as an insurance card.

1. Application via My Number Portal
2. Application via Seven Bank ATM
3. Applying at medical institutions using a face recognition card reader
