Hokkaido to hold "Foreign Talent Recruitment and Retention Seminar & Roundtable" (10/29)

Hokkaido will hold seminars and roundtable discussions on topics ranging from basic knowledge such as residence status that should be taken into consideration when hiring foreign human resources, to advice on measures and support for helping foreign workers settle in after being hired.
On the same day, an online seminar will be held to discuss the basics of hiring foreign talent, such as the costs and necessary knowledge, focusing on the automobile transportation industry, which has become a new occupation eligible for the "specified skills" residence status in order to resolve the serious labor shortage.

Seminar and roundtable discussion on recruiting and retaining foreign talent
The seminar will be held in two parts and will cover basic knowledge such as residence status that should be taken into consideration when hiring foreign talent, as well as advice on measures and support for settling in after hiring. Good examples of settling in will also be presented.
○ Recruitment Section
For companies that are considering hiring foreign talent, we will provide an easy-to-understand explanation, even for first timers, of the employment situation for foreign talent in Hokkaido, the status of residence that allows them to work, etc.
〇 Settlement Section
We will introduce measures to help foreign workers settle in Japan, including success stories, that could provide hints for resolving issues faced by companies that already employ foreign workers, such as job transfers to major metropolitan areas. After the seminar, we will hold a roundtable discussion with experts on foreign workers from JETRO, JICA, HIECC, the Immigration Services Agency, and other organizations.
