Typhoon Preparation

Notice

This is a notice from the Sapporo Regional Meteorological Observatory.

August and September are the months of the year when the most typhoons occur. Typhoons can approach and make landfall in Hokkaido while retaining their strength, causing damage through heavy rain, flooding, strong winds, high waves, and high tides. When a typhoon is approaching and there is a risk of damage, the meteorological observatory will issue warnings and weather information, calling for caution and caution.
In preparation for a typhoon, check the hazard map during normal times to understand the disasters likely to occur in your neighborhood and to confirm the route to the evacuation site. Another way to prepare is to check how to obtain evacuation information and disaster prevention weather information. The Japan Meteorological Agency website offers a service called "Disaster Prevention Information for Your City" that allows you to check disaster prevention weather information related to your city, town, or village on one page. You can access it from the QR code in the figure.
