As part of its own initiative, the Hokkaido Shiribeshi Regional Development Bureau has been working with the five towns in the Niseko area, local mountaineering clubs, mountain guides and other related organizations since 2022 to promote the use and proper management of the Niseko-Shakotan-Otaru Coast Quasi-National Park, as well as to promote tourism in Shiribeshi in the summer. The Bureau has launched the Niseko Mountain Range Long Trail Promotion Project (hereinafter referred to as the "Niseko Trail") and is working to promote its spread.
