Niseko Town receives Silver Award from Green Destinations, an international certification organization for tourist destinations.

Niseko Town received the Silver Award after being judged by Green Destinations*1 (headquartered in the Netherlands, hereafter referred to as GD), an international certification organization for tourist destinations.
 
Tourist destinations applying for the GD Award will be reviewed based on the GD standards*2 approved by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), and will receive bronze, silver, gold, and platinum awards based on their scores. , and can be certified (GSTC certification) *3.

This year, which was the first time we were judged, our goal was to win the Bronze Award, but as a result, Niseko Town 's sustainable efforts in the natural environment and social welfare fields were particularly highly praised, and we received the Silver Award. I was able to obtain it. As a result, Niseko Town has received high praise from an international third-party organization as a sustainable tourist destination.
 
Niseko Town is aiming to become an even more attractive tourist destination as Japan's leading destination for sustainable tourism, which is gaining worldwide interest!

We are very honored that Niseko Town has received the Silver Award from Green Destinations, an international certification body for tourist destinations.
 
The town's tourism policy has centered on "creating sustainable tourism areas," and has been promoting various initiatives to date, winning the Green Destinations TOP 100 selection for two consecutive years in 2020 and 2021, and also in 2021. It was also selected as the UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organization) Best Tourism Village. In 2021 and 2022, we will hold GSTC official training and focus on developing local human resources who will promote the activities, and in recognition of these efforts, we received the 14th Japan Tourism Agency Commissioner's Award in 2022. I am.
 
In this review, not only the efforts related to tourism, but also the various sustainable town development that Niseko Town has promoted as Eco-Model City, and the understanding and cooperation of the town's residents and business operators were highly evaluated. We believe that there are. We would like to continue to cherish the spirit of "mutual aid" preached by our predecessor, Takeo Arishima, of which Niseko Town is proud.
