More than 10 years have passed since the formulation of the previous "Niseko Town Tourism Promotion Plan," and the situation surrounding tourism has changed significantly. While the national government is actively promoting inbound policies, COVID-19 (January 2020 to present) has caused serious damage to the local economy. Not only has the importance of tourism risk management been reaffirmed, but the very nature of tourism is also at a major turning point.
In the town, we have been studying the tourism promotion vision through the tourism council (held 5 times in total), townspeople lectures, WS, forums, etc. Now that we have compiled the "Niseko Town Tourism Promotion Vision (Draft)", we will make public comments (opinion solicitation) as follows.
