Special Feature: Niseko's Regional Revitalization Volunteers

Regional revitalization volunteers move from urban areas to bring a breath of fresh air to local communities.
Currently, 29 members of the team are working hard every day in Niseko Town, utilizing their knowledge and skills to revitalize the town.
This time, we will introduce the thoughts and goals of five second-year members who joined after August last year, and seven first-year members.
We also spoke to alumni who are active in various fields even after leaving the JOCV program.

What is the Regional Revitalization Volunteer?

The Regional Revitalization Volunteers is a system established by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications in 2009.
The members of the team will move their base of operations from urban areas to rural areas, and during their term of up to three years they will carry out "community cooperation activities" such as supporting local revitalization efforts through the development, sale and promotion of regional brands and local products, working in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries industries, and supporting local residents, with the aim of settling and settling in the area.
Initially, various problems were pointed out, such as a mismatch between the host side and the volunteers, but measures have been taken to address these issues, such as improving the support system and establishing trial volunteers, and the settlement rate is on the rise.

Niseko Town Cooperation Volunteer

In fiscal year 2011, the town hired three volunteers for the first time. To date, the town has accepted 84 volunteers, with 55 having graduated by last year.

A close look at graduates of the Regional Revitalization Volunteers who continue to play an active role in Niseko!
Approximately 70% of Niseko Town 's local revitalization volunteers continue to work in the town even after they retire.
We spoke to five graduates who are currently working in various fields in Niseko Town.

1.
Niseko Town Community Supporter
Arisa Matsuda
(Assigned to the Children's Center: Graduated in March 2024)

During the three years that I worked as a volunteer, the COVID-19 pandemic led to many small-scale events being held or canceled, and there were significant restrictions on my activities.
I'm glad I became a volunteer because there were many experiences I was able to have only because I was a volunteer, such as serving as a volunteer leader in the second half of my second year and helping elementary school students with rice planting and harvesting.
Also, since the volunteers come from all over the country and have a wide range of experiences, I think it was a place where I could easily ask for advice on areas I was weak in and actively exchange opinions.
I am currently working as a community support worker in Niseko Town. I belong to the Children's Future Division and am mainly involved in running the elementary and junior high school student town planning committee and the children's parliament.
Volunteer activities allow you to gain a wide range of experience, from clerical work to event support. There may be some challenges, but you will definitely find it rewarding, so I encourage all active volunteers to try out a variety of different things.

2.
Niseko Town Co., Ltd.
Tatsuro Takahashi
(Assigned to Nisekomachi Co., Ltd.: Graduated in 2023)

I was researching places where I could work in the fields of architecture and urban development, which I had always been interested in, when I found an ad for Niseko Town 's volunteers and decided to join.
At my post, I worked on "energy saving diagnosis," advising businesses and residents on ways to reduce electricity and fuel usage.
What I felt during my volunteer activities was that the townspeople and business owners were eager to "make the town better!" and were proactively working to hold and support events. It was because I was a volunteer that I was able to come into close contact with the charm of this town.
In addition, since volunteers are assigned to various businesses in the town, I think it is very good that connections are being made between businesses.
Currently, I am working to support the creation of a subsidy system for decarbonization, with the aim of "reducing CO2 emissions" being promoted by Niseko Town. I am also engaged in PR activities for subsidy systems related to renewable energy and energy conservation.
I will continue to keep in mind what I learned during my volunteer activities: "People will notice if you are working hard" and "People will notice if you are working half-heartedly."

3.
EcoMobility Hokkaido LLC
Yohei Ogawa
(Assigned to Niseko Resort Tourism Association: Graduated in 2023)

During my time at the company, I was mainly involved in promoting the Niseko Footpath and was in charge of the secretariat for hosting the National Footpath Championships. I feel that the encounters I had with many different people, including businesspeople, at that time have led to my current job.
I also joined the Niseko Footpath Association and made some friends there.
In my third year as a volunteer, I established EcoMobility Hokkaido LLC. Currently, I promote walking and cycling tourism, ensure the convenience of local transportation, and conduct guided tours to convey the history, nature, and scenery of Niseko Town. In addition, I continue to work at the Niseko Resort Tourism Association, providing tourist information and developing travel products.
In the future, we would like to establish a tourism model that includes lodging. With the operation of accommodation facilities in the town in mind, we aim to create a base and create tours that take advantage of Niseko's scenery.
I would be happy if more people would help promote tourism in Niseko.
Come and find the charm of Niseko that you like!

4/5.
Edgestone LLC
Kenichi Ishizumi and Kyoko
(Kenichi from Niseko View Plaza Direct Sales and Kyoko from Kiranoyu, who graduated in March 2022)

In my third year as a volunteer, I established Edgestone LLC, which provides car maintenance, building cleaning, facility management, etc. In addition, I currently manage the Goshiki Onsen Information Center and provide housekeeping services for elderly people.
I had many opportunities to interact with local people at my post, so I was able to build strong ties with farmers and local residents. In addition, my superiors at my post and former volunteers were very supportive, so I was able to start my business smoothly after graduating.
In addition to their assigned duties, volunteers have many opportunities to meet various people through supporting events in the town. After learning about the Niseko taxi situation from someone they met while supporting an event, they used the self-study allowance provided for self-sufficiency to obtain a license and actually worked for a local company.
The reason we are able to continue our business today is thanks to the connections and acquaintances we made during our three years as volunteers.
We want to grow into a company that can contribute to the town so that we can repay the kindness we have received from everyone. We also want to be a company that can play a part in alleviating the labor shortage.
The JOCV system is a valuable time to try out various things, so it's important not to waste the three years and to work hard. There will always be people watching over your daily activities, so try anything you can! And ask for help from former JOCV members. You may find a clue to becoming independent.

On July 5th, a human rights class was held at Niseko Junior High School, where 43 third-year students learned about human rights.
The theme of this lesson was "Protecting yourself from sexual victimization and sexual violence," and past cases of crime and penalties for sexual crimes were introduced.
Afterwards, the participants thought about what can be done to prevent sexual assault and crime from happening to themselves, their friends, or anyone else close to them, and then summarized and presented their opinions in groups.
This provided an opportunity for me to think deeply once again about the meaning and importance of human rights.

Advice from Human Rights Advocate Kikuchi

Aiming for even greater friendship beyond just ties!

The Makino-Niseko Exchange Association, which was established due to the town name in katakana, continues to exchange with the former Makino Town (now Takashima City) in Shiga Prefecture. This year, a delegation of eight people from the Makino area of Takashima City visited Niseko on July 4th and 5th and had a great time.
We visit the Makino area from Niseko every two years, and this year we plan to visit Takashima City around November.
Currently, we have 21 active members. If you are interested, please contact the Makino Niseko Exchange Association Office (located in the Niseko Town General Gymnasium). Why not deepen your friendship with our sister city, Takashima City?

We will continue to exchange information in the future.

We made it to the top of the steep mountain path! Climbing Iwaonupuri together

On July 12th, 35 children in the Kuma group (elderly children) at Kindergarten attempted to climb Mt. Iwaonupuri. Led by nursery teachers and local revitalization volunteers, all of them safely reached the summit and descended.
In the summer heat and cloudy skies, the children struggled with the long stairs and steep rocky path. Still, they encouraged each other and made it to the top.
The children were also fascinated by the scenery and plants that can only be seen when hiking, and thoroughly enjoyed the Niseko mountains.
After descending the mountain, we soothed our tiredness from the climb with a long-awaited lunch.

Commemorative photo at the summit!

Corner for townspeople by townspeople
Would you like to work as a reporter too? We look forward to your participation.

This month's reporter is Mie Nakariki. In addition to her job and childcare, she is also the captain of the mothers' volleyball team, Niseko Grace.

"Let's go!" Niseko Grace

I moved to Niseko Town from my hometown in Shiga Prefecture 23 years ago. Before I knew it, it had become the place I've lived in the longest in my life.
Because I worked in Hirafu, I was aware that I lived in Niseko Town at first, but I didn't really think of myself as Niseko Town. But after I got married and had children, I went to the town's infant health checks, went to the "Ohisama" Kindergarten almost every day, enjoyed reading aloud to my children at Asobook, and got to know not only other new mothers like me, but also people from various parts of the town. Little by little, I began to feel like Niseko Town through my child-rearing. And then, what deepened that feeling even further was "Niseko Grace," a volleyball team for mothers.
Although I had played volleyball in elementary, middle, and high school, I had a break and was nervous, but my husband pushed me to join. It was really fun playing volleyball for the first time in a long time, and I felt a sense of exhilaration from moving my body and an indescribable sense of fulfillment, as if I had returned to my roots. Practicing twice a week refreshed my mind and body, and had a positive impact on my daily life.
My teammates are women in their 20s to 70s, all of different ages and occupations, all of whom love volleyball. I practice with them as "friends," work together in matches with the word "Niseko" written on my back, and listen to the stories of my seniors outside the court, learning more about Niseko Town and gradually becoming a "Niseko Town" within myself. Above all, how wonderful it is to be able to enjoy the youth of my friends like I did in my school days, even at this age. I truly feel that it is a truly irreplaceable experience.
In July, our Niseko Grace won the regional qualifying round and will participate in the Hokkaido tournament in September! We are women who love volleyball. Would you like to join us? We practice in the gymnasium on Mondays and Thursdays from 8pm to 10pm!

Niseko High School Agricultural Club

In-school technical competition
2nd Year Accountant Ayane Honjo

The in-school technology competition was held on July 4th. Three events were held: two categories of agricultural appraisal (vegetables and lifestyle) and an information processing competition. The top four students from each category of agricultural appraisal and one student from the information processing competition will compete in the All-Hokkaido Competition to be held in Asahikawa on August 6th and 7th. Past exam questions were distributed on Chromebooks, and all students worked hard in preparation for the in-school competition, solving them during class and after school, and actively asking teachers questions about any parts they were unsure of. Students competing in the All-Hokkaido Competition will continue to study with the national competition in mind.
The results of the All-Hokkaido Tournament will be reported in the next issue. Thank you for your support.

Graduation special feature

We are publishing greetings from two members whose terms will expire at the end of September 2024.

Yukako Ohashi
(From Osaka Prefecture)
Place of assignment: Arishima Takeo Memorial Museum

Thank you very much for the past three years!

Walking 50 minutes on snowy roads to work. Getting a driver's license in a snowy country. I thought it would be tough, but when I saw Mt. Yotei it became a small worry, and the beauty of the short spring gave me courage. I met many kind people through my work at the wine school and in the travel industry. I was able to purchase land through a connection on the radio, and although I have not yet decided whether to build a home and school building, I have a foothold to remain in Niseko. If you wish for it strongly and take action, your dreams will come true, so I will continue to do my best!

Masaaki Yasui
(From Sapporo)
Assigned to/Niseko Resort Tourism Association Co., Ltd.

From the familiar Niseko to a new base of life
I was assigned to the Tourism Association, and it's hard to believe, but I have only a few months left until I graduate. Since I was hired during the COVID-19 pandemic, I was able to see the town gradually bustling from my position at the Tourism Association, which was a very good experience. My greatest asset is being able to meet people I would not have met if I hadn't joined the JOCV. I plan to use the mountaineering qualifications I obtained during my term to work in the mountains of Niseko in the future.
Thank you to everyone who helped me. I look forward to working with you in the future.

This month's delicious vegetables
3rd year: Naoki Nakamura (from Sapporo)
Assignment/Agricultural Administration Division

Hello everyone, here's curry rice. This month's vegetable is cherry tomato. We grow a variety of cherry tomato called "Horemaru". It is a little larger than the standard, has a good balance of sourness and sweetness, and has a clean aftertaste, making it a cherry tomato unique to Crystal Farm. It is sold at Niseko Roadside Station View Plaza.
We also post information about vegetables on Instagram, so please check it out.

Niseko Classic Support!
Over 1,000 bicycles gather in Niseko!
What left a lasting impression on me was how, despite being tired, the runners smiled and responded to the cheers from the roadside.
Despite the inconvenience caused by the road closure, we were able to complete our support mission safely thanks to the kindness and cooperation of the townspeople! Rain was forecast, but we are also grateful that the weather held out until the end of the race. (Sato Kyoka)

We supported rice planting at Niseko Elementary School!

We helped draw lines to indicate where the seedlings would be planted and tossed them to the children. The children were covered in mud and full of energy. The planting took only a few hours, but when I thought about the farmers' help and the rice growing, I felt grateful for the rice we eat every day. I'm looking forward to the harvest in the fall. (Kamikawauchi Risa)

I participated in the morning market!

We participated in the morning market held in front of Maeda Shoten. We set up a booth for the local revitalization cooperation team and sold sweets and other items that each of the three cooperation team members had made. It was a valuable experience toward independence. We asked those who made a purchase to also fill out a survey. We hope to use the valuable feedback we received in the survey in our future activities. (Itami Takako)

Announcement: New members have joined our team!

Kohei Shimizu (from Nayoro City)
Place of assignment: Sports Section, General Education Division

From Niseko to the world. Since childhood, I have been cross-country skiing due to my family's influence. It may not be a very familiar sport in Niseko Town, but I will do my best to increase the potential of this sport with my own hands, improve the environment, and one day produce an Olympic athlete from Niseko Town!

Risa Kamikawauchi (from Chiba Prefecture)
Assigned to/Niseko Machi Co., Ltd.

When I was in elementary school, I went on family trips all over Hokkaido, and that's where my love for nature was cultivated. Five years ago, I learned about the seriousness of environmental issues, and wanted to be involved in environmentally friendly, sustainable urban development, so I joined the JOCV. My previous job was as a pharmacist, so this is my first experience with development projects and PR, but I hope to convey the work of Niseko Machi Co., Ltd. in a fun and easy-to-understand way!

Kindergarten

There was a fun party

This year the older children had a fun party.
The children discussed what to make for dinner and what kind of haunted house to make, and for dinner they had curry rice. For the haunted house they hung and lined up ghosts made from empty boxes and darkened the hall, creating a thrilling experience.
The children were excited to go and get their presents, but it seems that they all got a present.

A ghost we drew ourselves! It's scary!

Can you brush your teeth well?

Sun

First tooth brushing lesson

Dental hygienist Yuko Hayashi was invited to give a parenting class on the topics "Baby teeth," "Tips for preventing cavities," and "Periodontal disease in adults."
They used a model to show us exactly how to brush our teeth, and they also watched and instructed children on how to brush their teeth.
We were advised that touching the baby's cheeks with the palm of your hand and his lips with the pad of your index finger would help him get used to having his mouth touched, and prepare him for the habit of brushing his teeth.

"Ohisama" is a place where parents and children can play casually and talk to each other about their worries. (Inside Kindergarten)

Creating a sense of purpose in life for the senior generation

In this era when we are said to be living to 100 years old, what is the secret to staying healthy even after turning 65?

According to data from the Cabinet Office's 2023 White Paper on an Aging Society, which conducted a survey of people aged 65 and over, people who participated in social activities (health, sports, local events, etc.) were more likely to report that they were in "good" health than those who did not participate in social activities, and people who reported they were in "good" health were also more likely to feel a sense of purpose in life (joy and enjoyment), indicating that health and purpose in life are closely related.

To maintain physical and mental health

Spending more time at home increases your risk of:
1. If you continue to not move your body, your muscles will weaken and your legs and hips will become weak.
2. Fewer opportunities to meet people lead to accelerated brain aging.
In order to stay healthy both physically and mentally, it is important to interact with people and exercise on a daily basis.

We're doing it again this year! "Muscle Building Class"

Niseko Town will hold a "Muscle Building Class" once every two weeks from September for the purpose of nursing care prevention. We are working to make it fun for people who think "I think exercise is important, but I can't keep it up" or "I'm not good at being in a group."
[Participants' impressions]
・This was my first time participating. I was able to get just the right amount of exercise at my own pace. (Woman in her 70s) ・I had fun going out. I'd like to participate again. (Woman in her 70s)

Volunteer Encouragement
It is said that the moment when humans feel happy is when they feel that they have been of use to others, rather than when something has been done for them. Volunteering also has the following benefits:
1. You can contribute to society.
2. Your circle of relationships will expand.
3. Be able to exercise moderately.
If you're not sure what to do when it comes to volunteering, or if you're not confident in volunteering, why not start by volunteering at a muscle-building class? Last year, nine volunteers helped run the muscle-building class. They can help out on any day that suits them, so if you're interested, please feel free to contact us.
For more information about participating in muscle-building classes or volunteering, please contact your local comprehensive support center.

Katahira attorney's
We will solve your worries!

●This month's theme: "SNS Troubles"

I'm sure you still remember the horrific incident that occurred in Asahikawa City, where a high school girl was murdered.
It was reported that the incident was triggered by a problem on social media, where "her images were reposted on social media without her permission."
In order to prevent slander and libel through SNS, some states in the United States have enacted laws requiring parental consent for children to use SNS. In Japan, there are currently few restrictions on the use of SNS, and the mainstream is to create systems to prevent harm caused by SNS.
Specifically, if you are libelous or slandered by a post on SNS, you can identify the poster and request their deletion or seek damages under the Provider Liability Limitation Act, but the time it takes to go through court proceedings has been a problem. Since 2022, the Provider Liability Limitation Act has been amended several times to include various measures that are mandatory, such as speeding up court proceedings and setting up a contact point where victims of libelous or slanderous comments can request that posts be deleted by large platform operators. The name of the law itself has also been changed to the "Act on Information Distribution Platforms." This revised law will come into effect on May 17th next year. It looks like legal developments surrounding SNS will continue in the future.

Revision of sewage treatment fees
The sewage treatment fee (pumping fee) will be revised from the current 94 yen to 126 yen (tax included) per 10 liters from Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
This fee revision is due to rising prices, etc., and is a price increase to ensure continuous and stable collection and transportation services.
Therefore, the minimum charge will be the basic rate (360 liters), which is currently 3,384 yen, but will be revised to 4,536 yen (an increase of 1,152 yen, or 34.0%).
For a standard average household (household that receives septic tanks), this will increase by approximately 5,344 yen per year.
*The additional charge of 1,000 yen per unit for temporary toilets for business use remains unchanged.

International Exchange News vol.16
Hello!
In June, we held a "Batik Workshop." Batik is a traditional wax-resist dyeing technique from Malaysia and Indonesia.
Batik fabric can be used to make clothes, pouches, sandals, and more! In this workshop, participants made small pieces of batik fabric that can be used as decorations.
To make them, first trace the design onto a piece of white fabric with a pencil. Next, apply hot wax to the traced area. Finally, color the fabric, let it dry, and then place it in a photo frame to complete the design.
We will be holding this event again, so please come along if you are interested!

* Owner's responsibility
I would like appropriate management of unoccupied house

Vacant houses, such as abandoned homes and unused warehouses, will deteriorate year by year if they are not properly managed through regular snow removal and repairs. Eventually, abandoned houses that are so badly damaged that they cannot be reused will not only spoil the town's scenery, but they may also pose a danger to the surrounding area if they collapse.

◎ What is the responsibility of the owner of an empty house?
Vacant houses are personal property, so the owner must manage them properly. As a rule, the town does not manage vacant houses. If accumulated snow falls or parts of the building collapse, causing damage to neighboring houses or passersby, the owner of the vacant house may be held responsible for management, including paying compensation for damages.
Those who own vacant houses are asked to manage them properly so that they do not become a nuisance to the surrounding area.

◎ What if you leave an abandoned house?
In the town, the "Niseko Town Landscape Ordinance" was enforced in 2004 (FY 2004), and proper maintenance and management is required so as not to hinder the landscape due to "poorly managed land" such as abandoned houses. We are obliged to strive to
In addition, to address the nationwide problem of vacant and abandoned houses, the government enacted the "Act on Special Measures for Promoting Measures for Vacant Houses, etc." in 2014. This act aims to promote measures for vacant and abandoned houses in a comprehensive and planned manner.
Based on these ordinances and laws, the town conducts on-site surveys of abandoned houses, provides guidance to owners, and, in some cases, issues recommendations and orders.
If the property is still not properly managed, the abandoned building can be demolished under the Administrative Enforcement Act and the costs can be collected from the landowner.

◎ Countermeasures against vacant houses in cooperation with the Niseko Real Estate Industry Association
The town has signed an agreement with the "Niseko Real Estate Industry Association" to help manage villas and vacant houses, as well as short-term rental of villas and vacant houses while the owners are not using them. .

◎We will help you manage villas and vacant houses.
The town serves as the reception desk for consultations, and businesses belonging to the real estate industry association are in charge of the actual management. In addition to checking the exterior of the building and the site through monthly patrols, services such as snow removal are also provided in winter.
So far, in addition to patroling villas and vacant houses, we have helped with mowing and snow removal. Please contact us if you have any problems with your villa or empty house.

◎Why don't you rent out a villa or an empty house for a short period of time?
A business in the town that needs housing only for the period when the owner does not use the villa or vacant house by the town becoming a registration and consultation desk for properties and users, and businesses belonging to the real estate industry association performing the actual leasing business. rent to someone.
Reducing the unused period of the building also leads to reducing the deterioration of the building. If you are interested in utilizing your villa or empty house, please contact us.

◎Please let me know if you have any vacant house information.
The town has formulated a "Plan for Countermeasures against Vacant Houses, etc." in 2022 and is working to promote measures to address vacant houses, etc.
The survey has been conducted based on the water supply shutoff situation, but in order to uncover more vacant houses, we are now soliciting information about vacant houses that residents have. The information obtained from the survey will be compiled into a ledger, and after surveying the owners' intentions, it will be used to develop future measures against vacant houses.

Note

Don't feed wild animals

Do you feed wild animals such as foxes and crows simply because you think they are cute or because you want them to get closer to you? Feeding wild animals has various effects on the animals and the surrounding environment. Please refrain from feeding them indiscriminately.

◎ Why you should not feed animals
Feeding wild animals carelessly can lead to the following:

◎ Wild animals will no longer be able to find food on their own.
Wild animals that are fed by people may learn that they will be fed if they approach people, and may become unable to feed themselves. Also, wild animals may become ill from eating foods that are not found in their natural environment.

◎ Changes in ecosystems
There is a risk that the plants and animals that wild animals originally ate will not decrease, and the animals that are fed will increase in number, disrupting the balance of the ecosystem.

◎ It becomes difficult for people in the surrounding area to live.
Wild animals may gather at feeding areas and cause trouble for people in the vicinity with their droppings, urine, and noise.

◎ It spreads infections
Keep away from wild animals as they may be infected with infectious diseases (such as avian influenza or echinococcus).

Radio Niseko News Vol.04

They came to visit Radio Niseko!
During the last week of June, users of Niseko Town Day Service Center came to visit Radio Niseko for five days.
The staff at the day service center were surprised by the number of photos of past performers on the wall just inside the building, and they all said, "Even if I pass by, this is the first time I've ever been here." We were also grateful to hear happy comments like, "I always listen to the show."
After Director Miyagawa gave a brief explanation about Radio Niseko, the group was given a tour of the broadcasting booth.
There was also a scene where station staff were interviewed by a person who acted as a personality, wearing headphones and sitting in front of a microphone.
In addition, they told us about what Niseko was like in the past, and although it was a short time, we had a great time welcoming them. Please come and visit us again.

Ranking of recyclable waste

Did you know that recyclable waste such as plastic bottles and glass bottles is ranked according to its quality? The recyclable waste generated from your home is collected and shipped to be reused as a new resource. At that time, it is checked for quality and ranked, and the unit price for collection is determined according to the rank.
The quality checks are strict, with multiple items being inspected, such as the percentage of PET bottles that have caps or labels attached, whether bottles are sorted by color, whether plastic is dirty, etc. For this reason, local businesses that collect and separate recyclable waste sort the recyclable waste by hand before shipping it out.
Niseko Town has been able to maintain its A rank thanks to everyone following the rules when disposing of their waste and the efforts of the companies that sort the waste. However, recently there has been an increase in recyclable waste where the rules are not being followed, such as "not removing the labels from plastic bottles," "metal inside the bottle," and "plastic or paper mixed in with plastic."
When disposing of recyclable waste, be sure to check the rules again so that you can ship it as a "quality resource."

hello mayor

Thoughts on children's human rights
In December 2000, the Niseko Town Basic Ordinance for Town Development Ordinance, the first constitution for a local government in Japan, was passed by the town council. This ordinance examines children's human rights and their right to express opinions from various angles, and stipulates in Article 11 that "children have the right to participate in town development."
The Convention on the Rights of the Child was adopted at the United Nations General Assembly in 1989, ratified in Japan in 1994, and the Basic Act on Children came into effect last year (2023). With the recent rise in awareness of "children's human rights" in Japan, our town's efforts to listen to children's opinions in the Children's Town Planning Committee, Children's Parliament, and when formulating comprehensive plans are gaining attention from around the country. We have high hopes for the "unprecedented" child-rearing support measures being promoted by the government, and we will continue to work to expand children's lives and child-rearing support.

Central Warehouse Group Newsletter vol.29

Creating a comfortable space for everyone

Hello! This is Matsuda, the director.
The first half of this year has come to an end in the blink of an eye, and before we knew it, we are already in the second half. A year really does go by quickly.
Well, now, the Central Warehouse Group will be installing new Asobook books as "Mini Asobook" in the building! Like the Mini Asobook installed in town halls, we have selected about 30 books, mainly magazines and essays. We have set up a "Mini Asobook" corner in the artificial turf space in the building, so please feel free to use it when you visit!
In addition, after the snow melted in May, the Central Warehouse Complex staff began caring for the flower beds in the square. In June, lavender and lisianthus bloomed, and in July mini sunflowers that had been planted in a place that had never been touched before also bloomed in full, adding color to the area around the Central Warehouse Complex.

We hope to continue creating a relaxing space for all our visitors.

Editor's Note

Now that summer is in full swing, local events are being held enthusiastically.
The Mar Festival was a lively event with a variety of fun activities.
Alongside the interviews, I also played Japanese drums as part of the "Wadaiko Hachisho" group, and participated in the general division of the Niseko Town Quiz Battle.
I was able to enjoy the event and participate in the Niseko Town Quiz Battle. However, I got carried away and ended up losing miserably.
In the general section, there were 30 questions about not only Niseko Town but also the Shiribeshi area, but there were many questions I didn't understand and I had to study hard.
I keenly felt that I was lacking in strength.
The Public Relations Section is also in charge of welcoming visitors. We study hard every day so that we can explain information about the Niseko area to visitors from all over the country.
