Introduction

Hi, Halo!
My name is Kinanti Kanya Niramaya, but please call me Kanya! I'm from Indonesia, a country where it's hot all year round, so living in Niseko, with its very different climate, is both exciting and fascinating. I'm really looking forward to experiencing all the seasons here, especially the winter!

My interest in Japan began when I was in elementary school. I used to watch anime on television, and from that point, I became captivated by Japan. My curiosity grew even further after I participated in a short-term student exchange program during high school. That experience made me eager to learn more about Japan and its language, so I decided to major in Japanese Studies at the University of Indonesia. I also had the chance to study abroad at the Univeristy of Fukui for a year, which deepened my passion for Japan even more. After returning from Japan, my interests expanded to East Asia, leading me to pursue a master's degree in East Asian Studies.

Now, I'm excited to be working as a CIR in Niseko Town! One of my goals here is to share the beauty and richness of Indonesian culture with everyone in Niseko. I've brought over traditional games and clothes to introduce to you, and I look forward to interacting with you all and sharing more about Indonesia in the months to come!

Where I'm From

I'm from Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, which is located on Java Island, the most populous island in the world. With a population of 11.34 million people, Jakarta is a bustling metropolis that's always full of life.

As an island country, Indonesia is surrounded by the sea and have many stunning beaches. While Bali is the most famous destination for beach lovers, there are also many beautiful islands near Jakarta where you can enjoy the ocean without needing to travel all the way to Bali. For example, the Thousand Islands (Kepulauan Seribu), just off the coast of Jakarta, offer beaches with pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters.

Jakartans often go to shopping malls on their days off. Jakarta has a vast selection of malls and its characterized by a wide range of options, from malls selling luxury brands to malls selling extremely cheap products. There are also many stylish and unique cafes to explore, and one of my favorite things to do is visit and try out the latest cafes with friends.
