Forests have many functions such as water source, soil, conservation of biodiversity, provision of recreational space, and prevention of global warming. As a premise, it is necessary that forests are maintained and managed soundly through the use of timber, and that forest resources are used cyclically. Forests are also an important local resource that occupies 67% of the total area of Niseko Town, but there are many things that we do not know what is going on.
Since the 192nd Townspeople Course, we have been holding lectures on themes related to forests. The first (192nd) is "The connection between local life and landscape and forest resources", and the second (194th) is the third edition of local production for local consumption and regional economic circulation from the perspective of regional promotion and population issues. In (196th), you talked about nature maintenance.
This time, we welcomed Kohei Saito, an economic thinker whose book "The Theory of Capital in the New World", and degrowth communism and once in order to realize a sustainable region for the future. We would like to talk about the common perspective related to joint management of existing forests, farmlands, river water, etc. In the second half, I would like to discuss with you how to interact with forests from the perspective of common (common property) through a dialogue with Mr. Takemoto.
