Niseko High School x Yamauchi Farm "Northern Traditional Vegetables Project"

Topic of town

On November 12, four students from Niseko High School's "Northern Traditional Vegetables Project" visited Yamauchi Farm (Motomachi) and thanked them for their joint research on Kujo green onion cultivation this season.
Niseko High School uses an air house that has introduced a geothermal heat pump since 2015 to grow traditional vegetables such as Kujo green onions. When cultivating Kujo green onions, I wanted to do research such as comparison with open-field cultivation, so I asked Kota Yamauchi of Yamauchi Farm, who is also a graduate of the school, to do joint research. When cultivating Kujo green onions in the open field, I was able to experience hilling (soil gathering work) that cannot be done at an air house.
On the same day, the students harvested Kujo green onions cultivated in the open field and handed a handmade pop that introduced this initiative to Mr. Yamauchi as a thank-you.
Mr. Konoha Hirose, the leader of this project, said, "About Kujo green onions, we will collaborate not only with high schools but also with local people such as farmers and restaurants to tell more people about this initiative and Kujo green onions. I want you to know. "

Thanks to Mr. Yamauchi
