Recruitment of GSTC Sustainable Tourism Training Program participants

Jobs & Volunteering

Hokkaido Transportation Bureau will implement a training program of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) in Niseko Town as a sustainable tourism initiative. (Held all day)

Japanese standards are from Niseko! Learn sustainable tourism ahead of the rest of the country!

The United Nations “Sustainable Development Goals” (SDGs) are global development goals from 2016 to 2030. This is no exception in tourism, and “Sustainability” is now a global keyword, with 2017 being designated as the United Nations “International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development”. It is.

So far, people are concentrated in a specific place and excessive environmental load is applied, it is not possible to convey the original charm of the area, a lot of passing spots and only garbage is left, so it is a so-called consumption deprivation type tourism etc. Sightseeing that compromises the sustainability of the region has become a problem. We believe that it is important to contribute to community development by using tourism as a method, while maintaining the quality of tourism while protecting local culture, historical heritage, and the natural environment, and connecting with issues such as education, welfare, and community activation.

“Sustainable Tourism International Certification” is an index of sustainability in tourism promoted by the United Nations. The global standard check items indicate what is sustainable and what specific activities are involved. We will consider what “sustainable tourism area development” will be required in the coming years and how we will work on it.
