Following the amendment of the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (Act No. 57 of 2003) through the enactment of the Act on the Improvement of Related Laws to Form a Digital Society, the personal information protection systems of the national and local governments have been unified under this Act and will now be applied as common rules nationwide (2023).
Until now, Niseko Town has been stipulated as an institution responsible for handling personal information under the Niseko Town Personal Information Protection Ordinance, but with the enforcement of the above law, the ordinance will be abolished on April 1 2023 In addition, since the Personal Information Protection Act exempts the council from application, and Niseko Town is required to take autonomous measures regarding the protection of personal information, we will enact Niseko Town Personal Information Protection Ordinance.
We are seeking opinions from townspeople regarding this proposed ordinance in accordance with Article 54 of Niseko Town Basic Ordinance for Town Development Ordinance.
