How to use the emergency radio

Setup key points

  • Always be sure to keep the radio plugged into a household outlet.
  • Set the radio in a place where it can recieve Radio Niseko broadcast (76.2 MHz).

1. Before beginning use

Remove the plastic strip from the battery panel on the back of the radio.

Key points

2. Confirm that you're receiving Niseko Radio

Emergency information is broadcast on the "Radio Niseko" frequency.

Key points

If you are having trouble find a spot with good reception for the radio, try putting it by a window.

3. When there is poor reception with the antenna

Pin the antenna string as high as possible over a window in a T-shape. Fold up the regular antenna.
Remove the blue protective cap from the side of the radio and plug in the F-head type external antenna. Do not tug strongly on the antenna string or cable.

Key point

Keep the antenna string as far as possible from metal furniture and appliances, such as metal curtain rails, blinds, and shutters. In locations where the radio signal is weak, the line may not have adequate reception.

4. Receiving an emergency broadcast

When you turn the dial counter-clockwise all the way until it clicks, the broadcast will stop.

5. Lights

If you are having trouble with the radio, please consult with staff responsible for emergency radios at the Town Council.
